David Waxman – Managing Director – Azla Advisors
David Waxman has 23 years experience as a Private Equity Advisor, Venture
Capital Fund General Partner, Venture-backed CEO and Investment Banker.
Over the past three years, Mr. Waxman has been responsible for Azla’s origination, valuation and execution of multiple secondary transactions on behalf of top tier LP’s, global financial services firms and other Institutional Investors and worked with several select GP’s on asset spin-out transactions.
Prior to founding Azla Advisors in 2006, Mr. Waxman served as a Managing Director of Equip Ventures’ Advisory Group where he advised Institutional Limited Partners on the divestment of private equity portfolios on the secondary market, and led the acquisition and management of several direct secondary portfolios. Mr. Waxman also served as a General Partner at Equip Ventures’ early stage Venture Capital Fund which he co-founded with Mark Goros, one of the co-founders of Broadvision and early team members at Oracle. Mr. Waxman served as an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at a Venture Capital fund backed by Sevin Rosen, Canaan Partners and Rho Management and earlier in his career was CEO of two venture-backed startups which generated M&A exits.
Mr. Waxman received an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business Stern School in 1990, where he continues to serve as a Guest Lecturer, received a Bachelors degree with Honors from Yeshiva University in 1986 and is a New York State CPA.
David is married with five children and assists his community board and a number of several non-profit organizations. He has led several mountaineering expeditions, is a published travel writer and nature photographer. In his spare time he enjoys teaching his children history, skiing and camping.
